When to Get Shots

A yearly influenza shot is also recommended for children age 2 years and older who have chronic health conditions such as asthma and diabetes; talk to your child’s doctor.
 


 You don’t usually need to put off a shot because your child has a cold or some other minor illness or is on antibiotics. It is important to go ahead with shots unless your child has a high fever or has had a severe reaction to a previous shot.
