DNR Transactions
We offer registration, transfers, renewals and duplicates on all of the above types of transactions.
ATV’s
ATV Class 1:
All-Terrain vehicles(ATV) are motorized flotation-tired vehicles with 3 to 6 low pressure tires, an engine displacement of less than 960 cubic centimeters and a total dry weight of less than 1000 pounds.
ATV Class 2:
All-terrain vehicles (ATV) are motorized flotation tired vehicles with 3-6 low pressure tires, an engine displacement of less than 960 cubic centimeters and a total dry weight or 1000 to 1800 pounds.
To obtain an ATV license and registration, the owner must provide:
- ATV Make
- ATV Model
- ATV Year
- ATV serial number
- ATV Engine Size
- ATV dry weight
- Applicant’s drivers license
ATV’s are not titled - to transfer we need the Minnesota Registration number and name of the person it was purchased from. An ATV license is valid for three years.
ORV
Off-Road Vehicles (ORV’s) are motorized recreational vehicles capable of cross-country travel on natural terrain.

BOATS
Watercraft (boats, jet skis, canoes, etc)
To obtain a watercraft license and registration, the owner must provide:
- Watercraft make
- Watercraft model
- Watercraft year
- Watercraft Serial number (Hull number)
- Hull material
- Watercraft Length
- Motor Size
- Applicants driver’s license
Some watercraft are titled, in order to be titled a watercraft would be more than 16’ in length and manufactured after 1979, or have a loan with a bank. If a watercraft is titled the title must be presented in order to transfer it.
- A watercraft license is valid for 3 years
- You must be 18 years of age to have a boat registered in your name

SNOWMOBILE
To obtain a snowmobile license and registration, the owner must provide:
- Snowmobile make
- Snowmobile model
- Snowmobile year
- Snowmobile serial number
- Snowmobile engine size
- Applicants driver’s license
To transfer a snowmobile into your name that is already registered you need to provide:
- MN registration number on the side of the snowmobile
- Name of the person you are transferring out of
To renew your snowmobile the owner must provide:
- MN registration number
- Applicants drivers license
*ATTENTION: Anyone operating on groomed or state-in-aid trails must have a MN Trail Permit. If you purchase the permit at the time of registration you can get a 3-year permit for $31.00. If your registration is not due, you can only get a one year permit each year until your registration is due. The one year stickers are $16.00 per year.
* You must be 18 years of age to have a snowmobile registered in your name
