Water Treatment History

The Glacial Lakes Sanitary Sewer & Water District (GLSSWD) water treatment facility is located at 16267 74th Street NE, Spicer, MN 56288.

The GLSSWD designed and built water treatment facility was put on line in March of 2000. Prior to the year 2000, the cities of Spicer and New London owned and operated individual water supply systems. The Green Lake area at that time received its drinking water from private wells.

Water contamination, shortage of supply and frustration with high levels of iron and manganese dictated the need for progressive action resulting in the development and construction of the GLSSWD centralize water treatment and distribution system.
