The Glacial Lakes Sanitary Sewer & Water District (GLSSWD ) does not allow directing of sump pump discharge into the sanitary sewer system. Sump pumps, that collect water from foundation drains, roof drains, yard drains, etc., need to discharge into storm drains, underground drains or surface discharge. Water collected in sump pumps is considered non-polluted water and requires no treatment before discharge.
Sump pump water directed to the sanitary sewer system creates additional unwarranted cost and capacity demands of both the GLSSWD sewer collection system and the wastewater treatment plan.
