The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a Federal Law passed by Congress in 1996 to make the sharing and protecting of health data more consistent, efficient, and safe.
The Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services has a HIPAA Policy to assist departmental personnel in managing protected health information and responding to requests for data or information.

Kandiyohi County Data Practices (link)
The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) regulates the management of government data that is collected, created, received or released by a government entity. The MGDPA can be found in Chapter 13 of Minnesota Statutes. Kandiyohi County has developed Guidelines and Procedures to assist county personnel in managing county government data and responding to requests for data or information.
